on this episode of the Powerspoint Podcast. Hey, where is everybody? Scott, jim, wow, I guess it's just me. Well, even though you're not here. Hey, scott, hit that beat. No backup crew, no script in hand, just keeping a plan. What kind of unplanned. He's ripping on life, weird news and more, keeping the show from hitting the floor Midnight. Mike, he's taking flight, talking to the void in the pale moonlight. No Scott, no Jim, but he's got that spark Podcasting alone like a voice in the dark. Go, go, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Powers Point Podcast.
Speaker 1:I'm Keith Mackey, co-host to the co-host, or assistant to the assistant. However you want to look at it, I'm not the normal voice you would hear hosting this show. Normally, our general, mr Scott Powers, would be hosting this show, but he is actually tied up at the moment and has been for a few weeks, as you all know myself, our other co-hosts, jb and Scott. We are all family men and we all have a lot of responsibilities with our families, and lately Scott's been, I guess, a little extra busy, you know. I mean I suppose JB and myself you know me have our busy moments too. Scott's having one right now. We all have them and uh, that's cool. So we're going to keep on and I'm going to give you a kind of like a little mini episode here to uh sort of tide you over. So, sean Mo Armand, we love you guys, keep listening. This one's for you and, uh, hopefully this keeps you entertained until we come back with our normal episodes. I know we have an interview coming up and a few more episodes. We have our basketball tournament, our celebrity basketball tournament, which is pretty interesting and that should be a fun one. We have our teams picked and we have other folks out who have also picked some teams. Our good friend Gavin from the Majors Mess Hall podcast also has a team in the competition and it's going to be fun to see how that one ends up shaking out. We also have some of our normal, more topical episodes coming up here pretty soon.
Speaker 1:I should say JB has some good ideas. I come up with some good ideas as a result of one of our guests canceling on us and we was kind of left without topics. So I kind of sat and listened to one of our previous episodes and wrote down a list of topics and said, hey, guys, this isn't going to happen to us again. So we definitely got a few of those to get to, provided we get to them. And if we don't, you know what I mean. Well, you know, things happen, things change and we're very open to change around here. You know our motto. You know we don't talk about politics, we don't talk about religion, and we try and give you a laugh or two, but no more than three, because that would be overkill. And, uh, anymore. You owe us snacks and, as I said before, I really like snacks and, uh, I believe our other co-hosts like snacks too, but I don't know. I think I might just be a little more vocal about it. And, of course, if you have any comments or questions or possibly even show topic ideas or anything like that, feel free to hit us up at powerspointpodcast at yahoocom, I believe it is, and you can get a hold of Scott on Facebook I think it's under powerspointpodcast also, or maybe it's just powerspointpod at Facebook and it's also powers31911 three, one, nine, one one at Instagram and possibly at Tik TOK too. Uh, but JB is on Facebook, but I don't know if I think that's just as private Facebook. And I'm myself I'm no longer am on social media, so I am 100% exclusive to the powers point podcast. So this is going to be the only place you're going to find me, which I'm actually very cool with.
Speaker 1:I've noticed a drop, I guess, in maybe a little bit of anxiety. Not that I had a huge, you know was dealing with a huge bout of it because of social media, but it seemed like just the kind of habit that when I would notice I would just kind of check the shit first thing in the morning and since I stopped doing that, I don't know, it feels maybe a little bit better because of that and it didn't really correlate too much with me being on the podcast. Anyway, it was more to do with from when I was making the wrestlers on the video game and I feel like that's run its course with that thing and it was fun and it had its moments and all that. But I feel like you know how many times must I do what I did to have did what I've done? And you can say that in a Mick Jagger-like voice and it'll sound pretty funny, you know. But you know I've met some awesome people through there, like my good buddy, dennis Guggen, who makes Funko Pops and is just an overall really cool guy, really good guy and obviously one of my best friends, bobby Bouhey, from Canada, and, of course you know, our leader of this podcast here is Scott Powers. I met him through the social media. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:So it was like our former guest, natalie Batari, said. You know what I mean. You manifest these things, you know, sometimes, and it ended up working out in a good way and that's good. At this point, at least for a little while, you know. I mean, figure out, you know if I want to do some other shit, but I really don't see it in the near future. In the near future, you will find me here on the powers point podcast with my two good buddies, because for me, that's my chill time at the end of the week, and I believe it is for scott and jb also. I, if I can speak for both of them because, uh, you know, we, like I said, we family lives. We have very hectic lives and schedules. You know what I mean. Some of us are more busy than others at times and that's just the way it goes, and you know. So when I actually get the time to sit down with these two gentlemen, it's very important to me. You know what I mean. It's a good decompress. You know, it's just a cool thing. It's like hanging with the boys, that's something you know.
Speaker 1:Once a week I feel like every I guess you know guy, especially the people around our age, when we get to the, you know, the middle ages. If you combine the three of our ages, we're over 150 years old. So, um, you know, it's good for for us to get that kind of interaction with, with our peers, whereas we wouldn't necessarily get it as much as we would have in our, uh, twenties or maybe our earlier days or maybe you know when you would go out and be around a lot more people than that. And I hope our listeners, that you guys, get the same kind of vibe from us. You know, I don't really know how much we appeal to like younger audience, but I assume, uh, our listeners are some of the little bit more older, more mature folks like us who want to hear us kind of have our little interaction.
Speaker 1:Which I believe is the strongest aspect and attraction of our show is the vibe and the chemistry, if you will, the symbiom, excuse me, the symbiont ism, the symbiotic relationship that exists between myself, scott and Jim, which I like to call radical, sensible and Scott, myself being the radical, our other co-host, jb, being the sensible one. Of course we can both have our radical and sensible moments, but you know, and Scott being the one, that kind of that we orbit around, you know what I mean. That brings this whole thing together and I'm glad that he does that for us so we can all get to listen to it. You know what I mean. It's fun shit, and we get to give our opinions, and you know, especially mine.
Speaker 1:I usually come off with some off-color stuff that I, you know. It's usually in a sense to try and be nice to a person, but not necessarily always. I've had some critical moments of a few people and I apologize for that if, uh, anyone's been offended. You know what I mean. I, I doubt anyone I've said anything critical about was actually listening, but you never know, you know, I mean adam cole could easily be a big fan on the show, you never know. If so, hey, buddy, baby, I'm with you. Buddy, I'm sorry, I called you a good employee.
Speaker 1:Another thing we like to do on the show is we like to give random facts, and that's normally JB and Scott's category. They. Let me just kind of react to them. But one thing that I discovered recently that I found was really interesting is my wife and I were watching Cirque du Soleil. My wife is a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil, has been for a while, and there's a lot of extremely talented folks involved with that show, especially the performers themselves. And we were watching and I was, you know, kind of thinking of something that I had said to one of our guests.
Speaker 1:I said well, you know, however much money you make, as long as you're involved in the process, it's got to be better than just punching the clock. You know what I mean nine to five. You know what I mean. I imagine whatever paycheck you got from your craft has to be better, you know, at least a little bit sweeter than maybe you know somebody would get just from their job. But I mean, I suppose money is money.
Speaker 1:But I assumed, I guess, that because they're performers and because they're, you know, touring performers, and a lot of times international touring performers, that they had to be making a pretty good paycheck, you know. And so I actually took the time to do the research, like our other co-hosts would do, and I looked up how much they made and I was actually quite surprised to see that the average Cirque du Soleil performers makes what tends to be the equivalent of like $18 an hour. Yeah, so you know anybody with regular, you know, office job that makes a little more. You're a little higher up in the company. I guess you're making more than the Cirque du Soleil performers. But again, they're doing what they do, you know, out of their passion and getting a paycheck for it. I guess it's better than doing nothing.
Speaker 1:And if you are willing to do something for free and you get a paycheck for it, then that then you deserve every cent of it and it's got to be something nice and something sweet. And, uh, I appreciate the work, you know, I appreciate the performance and I'm sure you know I can speak for our listeners and our co-hosts as well. But I definitely figured they would be making a little more money. I mean, good Lord, I mean, considering that that's something that you know. You can't just step in and you can't just fill out an application for Cirque du Soleil. You have to be a highly tuned, well-performed athlete, you know, and very good at these wild, crazy stunts and things that are very dangerous, you know. So I mean, I guess hazard pay doesn't apply when it comes to Cirque du Soleil Sorry guys, that really sucks. What also seems to be a hazardous occupation anymore is if you're working in the music industry and I tend to like to talk about music on here a lot I definitely like to point out that I've watched the Killing Joke documentary countless amount of times now.
Speaker 1:In fact, jim suggested that I may have clinched the Guinness Book World Record on the amount of times. Now, in fact, uh, jim suggested that I may have clinched the guinness book world record on the amount of times watching that, and if that is the record, I do believe I hold it. And uh, that was in our uh powers point text chain, which I think is funny enough that, uh, we should maybe put out a couple, select uh portions from that, because it's it's just as good as the podcast, if not funnier. And um, we definitely, you know we definitely bust some jokes there, the same as we do here. But, um, as always, you know, I always like to uh talk about what I'm into, you know, musically. And um, obviously I'm excited about the oasis reunion coming up and the scissor Sisters Are back together. You know, that was another kind of a Plus from the social media Was one of the musical directors From Letterkenny that actually recommended the Scissor Sisters, not directly to me but in it, you know, we ended up Talking about it. So you know who gives a shit, but they're a great band and it'd be a good one to check out.
Speaker 1:And another one would be a band called Mr Good Night is one I'm really into G-O-O-D-N-I-T-E. They have a singer. There's a guy named Tyler Parkford who's actually the main guy for this band. He's in another band called the Many Mansions with Michael Schumann who plays bass in Queens of the Stone Age. But they sound nothing like Queens of the Stone Age and they sound nothing like Killing Joke, that's for sure. They got kind of like a 60s, real melodic, you know, kind of very easy on the ears, very easy listening. And, if you like just good music, that are good songs and really well written, with a very wry sense of wit, you know, and very clever hooks and things like that, I believe that would be a good one to get into. So, moe and and Sean, if you guys, you know you guys like to listen to the stuff that is Mr Goodnight, g-o-o-d. I'm sorry, yeah, g-o-o-d-n-i-t-e. Yeah, they're a good one.
Speaker 1:Another segment that we like to do on here we call Grinds my Gears, and that's when we come on and tell you something that's been getting on our nerves lately or, you know, just kind of maybe pushing the buttons. And I gotta admit, what grinds my gears lately is the fact that I guess our lives have been a little too busy where we haven't gotten a clear path to do what we do, you know, and that kind of grinds my gears a little bit. That's nobody's fault, that's just the way life happens. So, but it doesn't mean that it isn't annoying and I know Scott and Jim feel the same way, because we want to keep this train a-rolling all night long. You know what I mean and that's how we want to do things around here.
Speaker 1:I believe I speak for Scott and Jim when I say that we do not take a single set of ears for granted and we appreciate all of you giving us your time to uh, take the time to listen to our show, you know to, to hear us joke around with each other, and you know I mean try and catch a vibe with us, catch a groove if you will. That's what we like to do. We know time is precious and, uh, if you choose to spend it with us. You know what I mean. We, we appreciate the out of it. You know what I mean. We appreciate the work out of it. You know what I mean, and we appreciate the work out of all of you that take the time and we love it.
Speaker 1:And with that, I'm going to do what our co-host, jb, normally does and leave you with a quote. And I'm going to do something special and I'm going to actually leave you with a quote from JB, that something he said to me a while ago, or not to me a while ago to me a while ago, or not to me a while ago. He said it actually on the show, but he says I don't believe in nothing, man, I'm always down for change. And with that I thank you for listening. I'm Keith Mackey and for Scott Powers and Jim Banks, thank you very much and we'll see you soon when we do our celebrity basketball tournament. Until then, be safe, everyone, take care. Goodbye, thank you.
